Oriental Weavers Group Expands Hospitality Segment

LONDON--Planning for global expansion in its hospitality division, Oriental Weavers Hospitality (OWH) is investing an estimated $30 million to add eight Axminster looms to its manufacturing facilities. Three of the looms will go to the company's facility in Cairo, another three to its facility in Tianjin, China, and another two to an unnamed location.

Mohamed Farid Khamis, the chairman of Oriental Weavers Group, "has agreed to double our production capabilities within three years and expects to be manufacturing Axminster carpets on three continents by 2015," said Michael Riley, CEO and managing director for OWH. The company will soon be adding printed carpet to its offering. Riley added, "Owning the largest chromojet printing facility in the world [from Mac Carpets] gives us a great competitive edge when we add a full line of printed carpets to our global hospitality product offering."

Khamis added, "In order to utilize global assets and take advantage of the organization's worldwide corporate structure and management team, we have decided to fully integrate the hospitality operation under the key management structure currently in place for all other flooring related businesses. The assets and synergies of our many other floor covering operations will be fully utilized to provide the best possible offerings and service to the worldwide hospitality market."

The company is also expanding in the Middle East with participation in four Naseba trade shows this year. At the recently completed Domotex, OWH also launched RoyalAx quality product.
