Rug-Related Events at High Point Market

Both social and educational events are on tap for attendees

High Point MarketHIGH POINT, N.C.—At High Point Market, which starts this Saturday, events as well as product introductions will be on tap for attendees. Here are a few rug-related events—both social and educational—to put on the calendar.

Saturday, Oct. 17:

11 a.m.-noon: Designer and HGTV star Candice Olson will give tips on designing with neutrals at Surya’s showroom (Showplace 4100) in a presentation called “Style-Transcending Neutrals.”

Sunday, Oct. 18:

7:30-9 a.m.: WithIt will host a breakfast presentation with kate spade new york, which is launching such licenses as rugs with Jaipur at market. RSVPs are required (visit At the IHFC’s Ballroom A on the 11th floor.

11 a.m.-3 p.m.: MAT the Basics (SAMS, 1-510) celebrates its 10th anniversary with traditional Indian cuisine and beverages.

2-4 p.m.: Jaipur (Showplace 3300) will host an open house with Debs Camplin, SVP of design for kate spade new york.

3:30-5 p.m.: Justina Blakeney will sign copies of her New York Times best-selling book, “The New Bohemians,” at Loloi (IHFC D-320), which is launching her line at the show.

5 p.m.: Loloi (IHFC D-320) will host its annual market party, featuring a live band, dancing, catered food and an open bar.

6 p.m.-midnight: Surya (Showplace 4100) will host its fall showroom celebration with savory bites and sweet treats along with cocktails, wine and beer and a live DJ.

Monday, Oct. 19:

8:30-11 a.m.: SFC will host a “Sustainable Style” progressive breakfast tour, which starts at American Leather (Showplace 5000) with a 20-minute presentation, and includes a stop at Jaipur Rugs.

4-6 p.m.: Kas (IHFC G-270) will host its “Fashionably Vintage” party with designer Bob Mackie to celebrate the launch of his new vintage rug collection.

7 p.m.: ART will host an evening of bowling at the High Point Bowling Center, which will include a fresh pasta and dessert bar, premium beer, a live DJ and a host of fun games.

Tuesday, Oct. 20

10-11 a.m.: Susan Inglis of the Sustainable Furnishings Council will discuss best practices in selecting earth-friendly materials, tips and tricks for lighting and cooling, and more in Company C’s showroom (IHFC D-431).

4-6 p.m.: AMS Imports’ owner Taylor van der Mandele will discuss custom-designed area rugs, along with offering wine and finger food at the French Heritage showroom, at 1638 English Road.
