April 16, 2013,
PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.--Safavieh has become a member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, and at the upcoming High Point Market it will debut more sustainable rug collections at its Historic Market Square showroom, suite 120.
"Sustainable Furnishings Council is delighted to welcome Safavieh, a leader in rugs and home furnishings and in innovation, which is really what makes any enterprise sustainable," said Susan Inglis, SFC executive director. "We are excited about the difference that Safavieh makes."
Safavieh has built its stable of eco-friendly rug collections since the launch of its Thom Filicia line of outdoor rugs made from recycled soda bottles in 2009. "Consumer response to our eco-friendly rugs has been very positive, and we will continue to develop new and exciting weaves and designs using natural fibers to meet the growing demand for sustainable home furnishings," said Arash Yaraghi, president, Safavieh. "We admire the great strides SFC has made within our industry, and look forward to working with them to help promote sustainable products and practices across all levels of the supply chain."
During market, Safavieh will have buffet breakfast and lunch available in its showroom, as well as a daily afternoon happy hour.
