Uttermost Takes Sales Reps to Costa Rica

ROCKY MOUNT, Va.-Uttermost celebrated its winning sales reps for 2012 with a week-long trip in Costa Rica this past March. Twenty-two reps, along with two Uttermost executives and 10 family members were on the trip, which centered in Liberia and the Papagayo area of Costa Rica.

Based at a resort on the West Coast of Costa Rica, the contest winners enjoyed activities ranging from snorkeling, deep-sea fishing, zip lining, and relaxing at the resort's spa.

The contest was based on a points system, where points were awarded on quarterly quota goals and dollar increases over quota. Points were also awarded for rug sale dollars and rug display units (Uttermost debuted its rug category last fall.)

Previous sales contest award trips have included cruises to Alaska and various Caribbean Islands, as well as trips to Italy, China and Mexico.

Many expected 2016 would be a banner year, but the political and economic climate softened consumer confidence. It was also a year consumers spent more lavishly on home remodeling rather than decorating.
