Lenox, All-Clad Present James Beard Awards
May 10, 2011,
NEW YORK-Executives from Lenox and All-Clad were among the presenters at last night's James Beard Foundation Awards 2011 held here at Lincoln Center.
Referred to as "the Oscars of the food world," the James Beard Foundation Awards highlight culinary excellence in categories such as Best Chefs in America, Best New Restaurant, and Outstanding Wine and Spirits Professional Award. The black tie awards ceremony, co-hosted this year by JBF award-winning chefs Tom Colicchio, Traci Des Jardins and Ming Tsai, was followed by a gala dinner featuring food prepared by some of the country's top restaurants.
A representative from All-Clad, whose name was unavailable at press time, presented the Outstanding Chef Award (won by Jose Andres, minibar, Washington, D.C.), Outstanding Pastry Chef Award (won by Angela Pinkerton, Eleven Madison Park, NYC), and Outstanding Restaurant Award (won by Eleven Madison Park, NYC). All-Clad presented the awards ceremony with Groupon.
As previously reported, Watts Tea Shop, a part of tabletop specialty store George Watts & Son in Milwaukee, received one of the America's Classics Awards. The awards "recognize restaurants with timeless appeal, beloved in their regions for quality food
that reflects the character of their community." Establishments must have been in existence at least 10 years and be locally owned.
Sam Watts, president and CEO of the family-owned business, and chef Jason Stevens were on stage to accept the award. Recognizing the residents of Milwaukee, Stevens said, "Without them we would not be standing up here."
