New York Tabletop Show Begins Today

NEW YORK-Scores of new dinnerware, flatware, glassware and crystal designs will be unveiled as the New York Tabletop Show gets underway here today. The market takes place at permanent showroom buildings Forty One Madison Avenue, 7 W New York, 230 Fifth Avenue and at individual company showrooms throughout the city.
New partnerships and programs, new licenses and new showrooms will all be on display. New products will be too, of course. Some of the key trends are an emphasis on texture and finishes, the continuing evolvement of floral designs, more geometrics, the shimmer of metallics, rounded squares and plenty of transitional design.
In addition to viewing product, there will be several opportunities for attendees to mix and mingle with industry colleagues. Forty One Madison will host a breakfast seminar tomorrow morning at 8:30, headlined by Simon Doonan, creative ambassador at large for Barneys, who will discuss and sign copies of his new book, "Gay Men Don't Get Fat." Over the next two evenings many of the individual showrooms will host parties, and the event list for this season is long.
7 W New York will transform its lobby into a pop-up shop lemonade stand. With the help of Christina Norsig, CEO/founder of PopUpInsider and author of "PopUp Retail... How You Can Master this Global Marketing Phenomenon," and Bess Wyrick, owner of Celadon & Celery, buyers will be able to get a first glance at how to incorporate products as a pop-up retail in a display window, a display in store, or additional temporary space to their store locations.
The show runs through Friday, April 20.
