NPD: Acrylic Stemware a Strong Performer
June 23, 2014,
PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.-Sales of acrylic wine glass sales more than doubled for the year ending in April, the strongest performance of any beverageware segment, according to market researcher The NPD Group. Old fashion, goblets, and champagne styles also grew during this time period, while sales of highballs/tumblers, the largest acrylic segment, declined.
"Consumers are clearly accepting of acrylic beverageware, which remarkably resembles their glassware counterpart," said Debra Mednick, NPD's executive director and home industry analyst. "The popularity of unbreakable drinkware in and out of American homes is undeniable, extending the selling opportunity beyond the warm weather months."
