Replacements Recognized for Workplace Equality

GREENSBORO, N.C.-The Human Rights Campaign Foundation has recognized Replacements, Ltd. as one of the top U.S. companies to promote workplace protection and equality.

For the 12th consecutive year, Replacements received a perfect score on the HRC's Corporate Equality Index (CEI). The annual report rates how major American companies treat lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender employees, consumers and investors. Replacements is one of nine companies in the nation to achieve a 100 percent rating since the index began in 2002, and the only North Carolina-based company to achieve a perfect score all 12 years.

Replacements joined other major businesses across the country this year in urging the Supreme Court to strike down the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act and California's Proposition 8. The Greensboro retailer also took an active role in a public coalition urging Congress to pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), a proposed federal law that would provide consistent nationwide legal protections from workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. The State of North Carolina does not offer these protections.

"We've made major strides forward this past year in the fight for LGBT equality, and we certainly can't slow down now," said Replacements' Founder and CEO Bob Page. "I'm so pleased to see President Obama speaking out in support of passing ENDA. With the bill already approved by the Senate, I urge House lawmakers to bring this long overdue protection to a vote."
