Vitra Acquires Artek
September 11, 2013,
NEW YORK--Vitra, the Swiss furniture manufacturer, has acquired Artek, the Finnish design company founded by architect and designer Alvar Aalto in 1935.
For the past 20 years, Artek was owned by Proventus, a capital development privately held firm.
"We are all so excited about the new partnership that has been sealed... in the world of design. We are looking forward to even greater growth and opportunity in the marketplace that we've been building since we started Artek USA in 2010," said Simone Vingerhoets, executive vice president of Artek.
