Shades of Light Acquires Colonial Metalcrafts

shades of lightRICHMOND, Va.-Shades of Light, a lighting and home decor retailer, has acquired Colonial Metalcrafts, a manufacturer and retailer of handcrafted, custom, colonial-inspired lighting fixtures. Both are based here.

Shades of Light said that the Colonial Metalcrafts deal will add to Shades of Light's line of exclusive lighting products, and Colonial Metalcrafts' expertise in metal working and metal finishing will further enhance Shades of Light's existing production capabilities. In addition, with Colonial Metalcrafts' existing customer base of residential and commercial designers and its custom fixture and repair capabilities, Shades of Light will be able to strengthen its position in the regional interior designer market.

Founded almost 50 years ago, Colonial Metalcrafts is led by current president and owner Jason Fredrick and has been owned and operated by the Fredrick family since 1993. Fredrick will continue to lead the manufacturing operations of Colonial Metalcrafts' and all of its employees have been retained by Shades of Light.

Colonial designs and manufactures new products for the residential and commercial markets, including restaurants, historic properties, luxury homes as well as for a number of feature films.
