BOCA RATON, Fla.-Dan Lamoureux, a video editor from Thornton, Ill., has been named the 2014 Ultimate Crock-Pot Crock-Star by Jarden's Crock-Pot brand.

Lamoureux won the award for his recipe "Red & Gold Beef Stew," which earned him $5,000 and a feature on crock-pot.com. Entrants were invited to submit a one-minute video showing themselves preparing an original recipe in the Crock-Pot Slow Cooker. People then voted for their favorite recipe, narrowing the field to five finalists, and Lamoureux was chosen by Crock-Pot brand executives.

Cheryl Punk, group consumer marketing manager for appliances at Jarden, said Lamoureux "best captured the essence of the Crock-Pot brand in his creative, seasonal and delicious version of slow cooker beef stew, and his video was creative and engaging, too."
