NY Now Names Eco Choice Award Winners

EcoChoiceAwardNEW YORK-Three companies--Calamarie, Potting Shed Creations Ltd. and WorldFinds--have been named winners of the eighth semi-annual Eco Choice Awards for products that will be featured at NY Now (formerly the New York International Gift Fair) later this month. Winners were chosen via online balloting.

"These companies represent multiple product categories, but all are committed to running sustainable, socially-conscious businesses," said Christian Falkenberg, NY Now director and senior vice president at GLM, which owns and operates the show. "From 10 finalists in each of the three competition categories, these eco-friendly products were determined as winners by popular vote."

Calamarie of Miami received the Most Innovative award for its Three-Rose Braided Necklace created from natural seeds and dried orange peels collected from Colombian juice vendors. WorldFinds of Westmont, Ill., received the Most Sensitive Use of Materials award for its fair-trade Recycled Kantha Wrap Bracelet handmade from repurposed Kantha quilts and scraps left over from making larger bags. Potting Shed Creations of Troy, Idaho, received the Most Sellable award for its Moss + Sedum Terrarium growing kit made by hand in Idaho from reclaimed, regionally sourced wine bottles.

The Eco Choice Awards are co-sponsored by NY Now and GREENRetailer magazine.
