PELLA, Iowa-Heritage Lace has acquired the licensing rights for a line of home textiles and home decor under the label of "Downton Abbey," the PBS series.

The line will be based on items that might have been found in Downton Abbey, the fictional country estate in Great Britain's Yorkshire county. Fabrics used in the collection include laces, sheers, linens, velvets, burlap, natural wovens and embroideries.

The collection's products focus on the characters in the series and their stations in life--much like the "upstairs, downstairs" plot lines on the show, according to a Heritage Lace statement. The "upstairs" portion includes fine textiles, ladies' accessories, linens and other high-quality items. The "downstairs" segment encompasses what the statement characterized as "more practical" items such as kitchen towels, placemats and fabric baskets. There is also a gift selection featuring iconic symbols such as the abbey, the Union Jack and the Downton Abbey "DA" crest.

Heritage Lace representatives have already previewed the collection throughout the United States and Canada. It will make its first formal appearance at the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market in January, and the collections will be available for purchase online beginning on Feb. 1. Dealers will begin to retail the merchandise on March 1, according to the statement.
