Cohenour Leaves Hooker Furniture

MARTINSVILLE, Va.--Bruce Cohenour has resigned as president of Hooker Furniture Casegoods, effective today.

Cohenour joined the company in 2007 as senior vice president of national accounts after a 12-year career as a sales representative. In 2009, he was promoted to executive vice president of marketing, and became president of the casegoods unit earlier this year.

Paul B. Toms Jr., Hooker Furniture's chairman and chief executive officer, said that under Cohenour's leadership, "we have repositioned and strengthened the product line, opened multiple top 100 retailers and developed many of the future leaders of the company."

A Hooker Furniture statement said Cohenour's future plans have not yet been determined, but that he intends to remain in the furniture industry. The statement did not comment on a potential successor.

Many expected 2016 would be a banner year, but the political and economic climate softened consumer confidence. It was also a year consumers spent more lavishly on home remodeling rather than decorating.
