Surya Debuts Kate Spain Collection at High Point

Surya's licensed designer portfolio continues to grow with the recent addition of Kate Spain, a designer known for her bold colors and motifs with a hand-drawn aesthetic. Having debuted at last month's High Point Market, Spain's new collection includes area rugs and coordinating decorative pillows. She was also one of the designers featured during Surya's Designer Spotlight events at market.

For the initial launch, Spain's designs incorporated a range of global influences. "The intrinsic nature of this collection is new, organic forms--spun from vibrant ancient cultures and places," said Spain. "The designs in the Alhambra handtufted and Marseille flatweave collections take inspiration from a variety of different sources. Some of the designs evolved from my pottery work in Spanish majolica and a love for ceramic tile patterns from both the old and new worlds. Other pieces were born from the explosive colors and ikat patterns found in the vibrant woven arts of the Central Andes."

Satya Tiwari, president, Surya, added, "Kate Spain's new collection harmoniously blends the serenity of nature with the bold colors and patterns of diverse global cultures. She delivers a uniquely modern sensibility to the range, with a show-stopping palette that I know our retailers and the design community will love."

A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Spain has been in the design and product development field for more than 15 years. She began her namesake business in 2008 and currently licenses her original drawings, patterns and photographs.
