FORT WORTH, Texas-Pier 1 Imports has hired Jeffrey Boyer, former executive with Tuesday Morning , as executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective July 27.

At that time, Boyer will assume charge over Pier 1’s financial operations and accounting, financial reporting, planning and analysis, treasury, tax and investor relations. He will succeed Laura Coffey, who will continue in her current role as interim chief financial officer until Boyer comes aboard. Coffey will then take on a separate executive position within the company.

Coffey was named interim chief financial officer in February, after the retirement of Cary Turner.

Alex Smith, Pier 1’s president and CEO, said Boyer’s “broad retail background, which encompasses real estate, supply chain and IT, will be an asset to us as we continue to drive our financial transformation under Pier 1 Imports’ omnichannel business model.”

Most recently, Boyer served as executive vice president, chief administrative officer and chief financial officer for Tuesday Morning, a decorative home accessories and housewares retailer that operates more than 750 stores in 41 states. His more than 35-year career also includes executive roles with 24 Hour Fitness Worldwide, Michaels, Sears and Kmart.
