NEW YORK-Michael Aram, artist and founder of Michael Aram Inc., and furniture company Ligne Roset will be among those honored this evening by New York's Museum of Arts and Design for contributions in the art, craft and design industries.

"It's an honor for the museum to award such leaders and creators, who epitomize MAD's commitment to contemporary craftsmanship, innovation and creativity," said Lewis Kruger, chairman of the board of the museum. "The outstanding achievements of this year's honorees have influenced the creative world at large and will continue to reverberate in our everyday lives."

Aram will be honored for his contributions to home decor and his legacy of fine craftsmanship, particularly traditional Indian craft. Ligne Roset will be recognized for its rich design heritage and dedication to craftsmanship and its ongoing commitment to technical innovation, the museum said. Other honorees include artist Richard Dupont and gallerist and art collector Barry Friedman.

The Visionaries! Awards will be bestowed at this evening's MAD Ball, which will inaugurate the Makers Showcase, or live artist demonstrations. Artist-Makers this year include photographer Benjamin Fredrickson, ceramicist Zack Davis and pastry chef Olivier Dessyn of Mille-Feuille Bakery.
