Naturepedic3x2CLEVELAND—Naturepedic has received the Gold Exemplary Recognition from the Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC) for its “deep environmental commitment and exemplary implementation of sustainability best practices,” according to a statement from the mattress manufacturer.

The company is the first mattress brand to earn this recognition. It did so by meeting the council’s Exemplary Manufacturer Requirements, which evaluate key achievements in the areas of sustainable operations and materials as well as advocacy and education. To back up its claims, Naturepedic submitted audited evidence of achievements in operations, production and environmental educational outreach, the company said.

Naturepedic is also certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS), and Made Safe, an organization which screens manufactured goods for toxins. The company is also recommended by numerous environmental organizations, according to the statement.

“Naturepedic is a leader in so many ways, and we are very proud to recognize their leadership in sustainable furnishings,” said Susan Inglis, SFC executive director. “This Gold Exemplary Recognition shows consumers as well as professional specifiers the depth of the company’s commitment to the good of their customers, associates, vendors, community and the environment we all share.”
