NEW YORK-Japanese tabletop company Nikko is planning a major launch of a new fine bone china collection by London-based designer Bodo Sperlein. This collection was previewed at Maison & Objet in Paris last month and will debut at the New York Tabletop Show later this month.
The collection, which centers on the blossom shape and incorporates hues of soft green and blue, "unites Japanese restraint and respect for nature with a formal modern European aesthetic," the company said. It includes Blossom nesting plates and bowls in delicate color combinations, Cloud dinnerware with a softened colored dot motif, the Macaroon Plate featuring gradations of color and a white rim, and the Voyage tea pot and cup that incorporates elements from both the Japanese and British tea-drinking traditions. There is also a Blossom lighting line that includes a pendant and elongated lamp.
The collection will be featured in Nikko's showroom at Forty One Madison Avenue, where there will also be a "meet the designer" event on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
