NEW YORK-Gilt has launched its Padma collection, a selection of glass drinkware and porcelain dinnerware and serving pieces from model, cookbook author and Bravo "Top Chef" host Padma Lakshmi. The sale includes glassware in a smokey blue shade exclusive to Gilt.

Gilt celebrated the launch with Lakshmi and media last night at a dinner, where the food and drinks were based on her own recipes and served on pieces from her collection.

The sale on Gilt consists of about 50 items, including a set of four Blue Optic Stem wine glasses ($39), a set of four Blue Optic Cooler glasses ($34) and a set of four Blue Optic DOF ($34). Other tabletop items include her Plum & Berry Minakari group. The sale can be found at

"We love her style, her design aesthetic," Alex Ogof, divisional merchandise manager, Gilt, Home, told HFN. "It meshes really well with what we do. She's passionate about the product."

"From a shopper's point of view, I love Gilt," Lakshmi said, joking that "I have no guilt about being on Gilt." About her collection, she said that "I poured my heart and soul into it," and was created because she couldn't find the dinnerware she wanted when she went shopping. More product categories are to come, she said, including linens for both the bedroom and kitchen.

"Linens are a great place to really be creative. I would love to do bakeware but also glass dinner service," as well as more serving pieces and spun Turkish glass. From her experience in the food world and on "Top Chef," she knew she wanted "platters that showcase a variety of dishes, the shapes and colors that would work best is important. If I had to find a term [to describe my design aesthetic], and I'm cringing as I say this, I guess it would be an eclectic mix of EuroAsian pieces."
