Rick Zugel of DKB Dies

SHEBOYGAN, Wis.--Rick Zugel, director of sales at DKB Household, passed away on Nov. 10. He was 63.

Zugel spent his career in housewares sales, most recently with DKB Household and previously with Wilton Products, the Sunbeam Corporation, Mirro Company (a division of Newell Rubbermaid), Regent Sheffield LTD and Regal Ware, Inc. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Rick assumed increased responsibility in sales representative and manager roles, working as a national account manager for Kmart, Meijer, and Kohls. As the national account manager for Mirro in 2001, Rick achieved Kmart's "Vendor of the Year" award and as the national account manager for Wilton, Rick was named manager of the Year in 2003, 2005 and 2006.

"Rick was an affable, witty, generous man with a contagious spirit and a willingness to go the extra mile for his colleagues and customers," said Will Symonds, president of DKB USA. "He was tenacious in his sales approach and was often heard around the office at DKB saying 'Just ship it'! Outside of work, Rick enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, golfing and cruising in his Stingray."

In addition to his father Francis and wife Kathy, he is survived by his two children, Jennifer Hall of Greenville, S.C., and her husband Brian, and Chris Zugel and his wife Jenni; four grandchildren, a brother and a sister.

A funeral service for Zugel will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 5:30 p.m. at Zimmer's Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center in Sheboygan, Wis. Friends may call on Thursday, at the funeral home, from 3:30 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Zugel's name to be used for Bethesda Lutheran Communities.
