Ross Opens 37 Stores

Ross Stores_Dress For LessDUBLIN, Calif.-Ross Stores has opened 30 Ross Dress for Less and seven dd's Discounts in 14 different states.

The openings are part of the retailer's 2014 expansion plans, which are to continue to build its presence in existing markets and grow in the newer markets Ross initially entered in 2011. Jim Fassio, the retailer's president and chief development officer, said Ross is on track to open about 95 new locations this year, comprised of about 75 Ross Dress for Less stores and 20 dd's Discounts.

"Including these new openings, Ross now operates 1,173 stores in 33 states, the District of Columbia and Guam," Fassio said. "Long term, we believe Ross can ultimately reach 2,000 locations, and continue to look for growth opportunities across all of our existing markets."

Fassio also said the planned expansion of dd's Discounts marks the fourth straight year of double-digit percentage unit growth for this format. Eventually, Ross believes that dd's Discounts can be a 500-store chain, he said.
