At the New York Tabletop Show this month Portmeirion Group will celebrate the 75th anniversary of Spode Christmas Tree, launch gift and entertainment-based collections in its Royal Worcester, Portmeirion and Pimpernel brands, and venture into the new category of cookware with Sophie Conran.
To celebrate the Spode Christmas Tree milestone, the company is introducing a 75th anniversary collection, which will include pieces such as an anniversary plate, cups and mug; a set of three tree ornaments; a footed compote and a footed soup tureen and ladle. All of these items will be stamped with the 75th anniversary dates, 1938-2013.
There are two other new collections in the Spode brand: Glen Lodge dinnerware, an English design of pheasant and deer mixed with argyle and tan accent plates. The look is similar to that of Spode's popular Woodland pattern. The second new collection is called Tartan, a short line of holiday-themed pieces.
New from Portmeirion is the Water Color dinnerware collection, a bright floral design on a fresh white background. And to keep Portmeirion's Pomona collection fresh, a kiwi motif has been added to the line, along with a few new items such as a coffee cafetiere, egg cups and a salt and pepper mill.
The Sophie Conran collection, Portmeirion's best-selling bridal pattern, expands with entertaining-based items and introduces a line of enameled cast aluminum cookware with a stainless-steel rim.
In the Royal Worcester brand, a new license with the Royal Horticultural Society has led to the creation of a tea collection packaged in a lidded hat box. This new license has been carried over into the Pimpernel brand as well, which will showcase new mats, coasters and melamine trays. Pimpernel will also feature a second new license, Morris & Company.
