Rug from the Morris Collection
ATLANTA-Surya has introduced a line of rugs based upon the designs of artist, philosopher and environmentalist William Morris.
Recognized as one of the most influential designers of the Arts & Crafts Movement, Morris is best known for his patterns on fabrics and wallpapers. He drew his design inspiration from handicraft and traditional techniques from the Middle Ages, with a focus on incorporating into his works the natural forms found in an increasingly industrialized world.
"William Morris was a true force of nature who believed in the power of design to change the world," said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. "While looking to the past for inspiration, he created a visionary, forward-thinking approach to design, as well as the way we view the world - both of which remain highly relevant today. We are excited to have the opportunity to share Morris's refined and inspired designs with our designer and retailer customers."
