Gift Industry Execs Honored in New York

NEW YORK-The gift industry gathered Sunday for the 19th annual Party for Life, a charitable event that benefitted DIFFA, Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS, while celebrating some of the leaders in the industry.

The Party for Life, held at The Boathouse restaurant in Central Park, featured a short program honoring Kathy Ireland, chief executive officer and chief designer for kathy ireland Worldwide, with the organization's first Design for Life Award. It also awarded David Moses, CEO of Lazy Susan USA, with the Bert Tonkin Gift of Giving Award, which recognizes philanthropic industry endeavors and sustained selfless efforts for industry benefit; and Marcia Miller, founder and CEO of Mud Pie, with the Trailblazer Award, which recognizes an industry pioneer for outstanding achievement and significant contributions, as well as creative products and ideas with lasting impact.

Guests competed for a wide array of prizes available at silent auction including jewelry, photography services, and more. Highlights included two VIP tickets to a taping of The Late Show with David Letterman and hotel accommodations for two nights at the Trump SoHo New York hotel, and two VIP tickets with backstage passes for the Janet Jackson concert on March 19 in New York City. The centerpiece prize was luxury accommodations in a first-class resort in Turks and Caicos, won by Barbara Baekgaard of Vera Bradley. This prize package includes seven days and six nights in a 3200 square foot condominium at the Seven Stars resort on the island of Providenciales. This prize has been generously donated by Patricia and Gerard Creagh.

Party for Life was held during the New York International Gift Fair, which continues through Feb. 3.
