LA Mart Extends GALLA Time Frame

GALLA MarketLOS ANGELES-The LA Mart will add three GALLA Market days so it can create "a seamless and enjoyable experience" for buyers attending the California Gift Show.

The LA Mart will extend its GALLA show dates, originally scheduled to take place Jan. 21-27, to be open on Friday, Jan. 31; Saturday, Feb. 1; and Monday, Feb. 3, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Free shuttle service from the Convention Center to LA Mart will be available. The LA Mart has elected not to be open on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 2.

"We know that the change of the convention center's show dates, off of Los Angeles' traditional third week in the January gift show cycle, has been puzzling for some buyers," said Frank Joens, senior vice president, general manager at the LA Mart. "Many buyers are accustomed to attending both shows during the same time period, so we made the decision to step up and put the buyers first by opening these extra days."

LA Mart said Joens worked with his showrooms to extend their open times. "Our goal has been, and will continue to be, to meet the needs of our buyers first," Joens said.

Many expected 2016 would be a banner year, but the political and economic climate softened consumer confidence. It was also a year consumers spent more lavishly on home remodeling rather than decorating.
