LA Mart Makes Date Changes for Fall 2013
May 16, 2013,
LOS ANGELES-In response to buyer and manufacturer requests, the LA Mart has moved its Fall 2013 GALLA market to Sunday, Sept. 29 through Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013. GALLA, Give And Live Los Angeles, is the new identity of the LA Mart's quarterly Gift & Home trade shows.
"We listened to our partners and our showrooms, as well as reached out to our buyer base and many voiced concerns over the original dates being too late for some manufacturers to ship and for many of the buyers to order and still receive in time for a true holiday sell-through," said Frank Joens, senior vice president, general manager at the LA Mart. "These dates make much more sense for everyone concerned and following the lead of our customers was a natural choice."
Patricia Norins, spokesperson for Small Business Saturday and sponsored by American Express, will be speaking during the Fall GALLA Market. Norins will present how retailers can best promote and take advantage of Small Business Saturday, the Saturday following Thanksgiving which has become nationally known as the day consumers shop independent retailers for their holiday gifts.
"Our goal is to provide the best tools, resources and product selection to our buyers anytime they visit the LA Mart," said Jennifer Mascari, director of marketing at the LA Mart. "Our GALLA events allow our buyers to step it up a notch and really benefit from our offerings."
The January 2014 GALLA Market will return to its Tuesday start date since the pattern works better for the LA Mart's buyers and manufacturers, LA Mart said. January 2014 GALLA begins on Tuesday, Jan. 21, and will continue through Monday, Jan. 28, 2014.
