NPD: In Textiles, Biz is on the Table

NPD GroupPORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.-Table linens were a bright spot among a home fashions market that declined 2 percent for the year that ended in January, compared to the same period a year ago, according to NPD Group.

Table linen dollar sales grew 14 percent in the year, bed covers 4 percent, sheets and pillowcases 2 percent and bath accessories 1 percent.

"The art of accessorizing has moved beyond the runway, and into our homes. It's about bringing freshness to a table, bed, or bathroom that may have been feeling stale, without spending a fortune to redecorate," said Debra Mednick, NPD executive director and home industry analyst.
