NY Now "Made in the USA" Display to Spotlight 314 Products

NY NowWHITE PLAINS, N.Y.-A record 314 products will be showcased in NY Now's "Made in the USA" exhibit when the trade show takes place next month.

Curated by designer Paul Thompson, the exhibit will feature a cross-category assortment of handmade and factory produced products. Merchandise in the display will represent all four NY Now collections. Nearly 20 percent of NY Now's total 2,800 exhibitors have identified themselves as suppliers of American made products, according to a statement from the trade show.

As an extension of this, NY Now partnered with the Craft Retailers' Association for Tomorrow in 2013, to develop specific criteria to identify and credential handmade U.S. products. Companies that meet the criteria will have "Handmade in USA" logos visible in their NY Now booths.

Christian Falkenberg, NY Now director and senior vice president, said the number of applications for the "Made in the USA" exhibit was nearly double those for last summer's show. "American-made is a cornerstone of the craft community," Falkenberg said, "and there is a remarkable growth in this category as mainstream manufacturers have begun to understand, and embrace, the advantage of domestic production."
