WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.-NY Now has formed an alliance with HGTV magazine to bring two blogger initiatives to the summer show next month.

The programs are HGTV magazine's first-ever Blogger Block Party, which will include opportunities for bloggers to meet, craft and share their experiences, and which will take place on Aug. 18 from 12-8 p.m. at 404 Studios, located at 494 10th Ave. in New York City. Sara Peterson, HGTV magazine's editor-in-chief, and Scott McGillivray, host of HGTV's "Income Property" and expert on HGTV's "Flipping the Block," will make personal appearances at this free event.

The second program will be NY Now's Best Blog Competition, open to all bloggers who write about home, lifestyle and design. To participate, bloggers must publish a post about their visit to the summer NY Now. From Aug. 16-20, the show will republish the best posts on its 100daysofdesign.com blog, and will encourage readers to share the blogs' content on social-media channels such as Facebook and Twitter. The blogger whose repost gets the greatest number of Facebook likes and Twitter retreats will win a tour of HGTV magazine's offices, along with a personal meeting with Peterson.

Christian Falkenberg, NY Now director and senior vice president, said, "These two new blogger-directed events will provide fresh inspirations and insights into home and lifestyle trends and directions."
