Perfect Fit Opens Monroe, N.C., Plant

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Perfect Fit Industries has opened a new pillow-manufacturing plant in Monroe, N.C.

The factory, which represents a capital investment of more than $2 million, has the capacity to produce more than 20 million pillows a year, according to a company statement. Its opening is part of a Perfect Fit strategy to increase its domestic manufacturing, and it was designed using the concepts of lean manufacturing and zero-waste production.

"Lean manufacturing has enabled us to bring several products we currently make offshore back to the U.S.," said John Beliveau, senior vice president of operations for Perfect Fit. "We anticipate this trend will continue as labor and transportation costs continue to increase overseas."
