NEW YORK-Springs Global has formed a partnership with environmental designer Sami Hayek to launch Espacio Sami Hayek, a design company that will produce home furnishings, accessories and home design solutions.

The initial introductions from the new company will consist of furniture, upholstered items, lighting and accessories. A Springs statement said the company also plans to expand the Espacio brand through partnerships with larger retailers on collections that include everyday furnishings and home decorative solutions. The statement said the collection emphasizes Hayek's approach to design, in  which he creates furnishings that consider the consumers, their environments and how to create a specific, personalized living experience.

The line will be available to retailers beginning in the fall and winter of 2011. Springs said it also plans to open a series of flagship boutiques for the new brand in Los Angeles, New York and Miami, followed by stores in key metropolitan areas in Mexico and Brazil as well as an e-commerce destination.
