Surtex Exhibitors Upbeat About Show

NEW YORK-Exhibitors at this week's Surtex, which ended yesterday, came away with positive feelings about their booth activity at the show.
"Attendees who stopped at our booth were very friendly and interested," said Jared Hudson, photo booth attendant for Art Licensing International. "I also saw contracts being discussed, which is a gauge of how well a show is going."
There was other strong evidence of good business among the exhibitors. "We had several big companies at our booth, and a lot of them were digging into our books (of art samples)," said Megan Duncanson, owner of Madart Studios. "They were also telling me what they liked, and that's when you know that you can follow up with them afterwards."
A key feature of this year's Surtex was the digital-equipment exhibitors, who could be found in the show's ReSource Hub. According to Steve Scott Saltman, president of AIS American Inkjet Systems, the company received traffic from both manufacturers and exhibitors. "We needed exposure to both artists and manufacturers, so that was why we're here," Saltman said.
Saltman added that the show's focus on design, materials and colors made it a logical one for AIS. "We're trying to show designers the science that enables them to express themselves," he said.
